A 14-year-old girl has sustained serious injuries after a substance, believed to be acidic, was thrown at her and two others outside Westminster Academy in Westbourne Park, west London. The incident occurred around 4:40 PM BST on Monday, prompting immediate attention from Metropolitan Police officers, who were alerted by school staff.
The girl remains hospitalized with potentially life-changing injuries, while a 16-year-old boy is also in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 27-year-old woman, who was injured in the attack, has since been released from the hospital. Additionally, two police officers were taken to the hospital as a precaution after feeling unwell.
Investigations are ongoing, with tests being conducted on the substance involved. The police are actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. In the aftermath, Westminster Academy has closed, with lessons moving online and many staff members working remotely. Multiple crime scenes have been established as authorities conduct their inquiries.
